Wishing you a Happy Independence Day!
We are not sure why Natalie Wood…and even a little bit of James Dean, came to mind for this post….besides being talented actors and taken too early in life, they carried a sense of vulnerability about them that equaled the confidence their celebrity provided. On the subject of vulnerability, the song Limit to Your Love brings to mind the fragile way love can represent itself when it shows up and then wanes unexpectedly. Along those same lines; some of the loveliest homes have been made when we step outside the notion of what we are taught, is good design to what we feel, is good design. Often, that is most uncomfortable. It’s in that moment others will say, “this home is YOU.” Perhaps that thread of vulnerability that is woven throughout this post is part of what made Feather & Nest take the leaps that it has over the last few years…often we were scared, but we dove in like we had done it a million times….hmmmm, hadn’t thought of that:) xo

“When I was designing this Office Suite, for a high powered female attorney, I was nearing the end of my pregnancy. After one of many sleepless nights, I got up and started sketching ideas from a dream I had. The result was the Lyla Simone flower, made of forged glass and chrome bent by hand. It was the perfect juxtaposition of soft and strong for my client.” Daun Curry via-Modern Declaration
There’s a limit to your love…Like a waterfall in slow motion…Like a map with no ocean…

I can’t read your smile…It should be written on your face…I’m piecing it together

Well, thank you Miss Deana…”mom”….xo
you know, it’s funny, i listen to Feist nearly every day. her voice is from the heavens. i never take her out of rotation, but i think that i’ve just maybe taken her for granted. some how your posts have a way of really making artists stand out, and lyrics to sink in, awwww, sigh. and perhaps i’m still a little gushy after watching Jef pour out his love for Emily “letter style” last night, but that Alan Cohen quote got me a wee bit teary eyed. it soooo true! and i MUST have those gold glittery envelopes. they are too divine! i’ve also been coveting a lucite table very much like the one here, it’s been sitting in my shopping cart for a bit, but we’re pinching pennies for our adoption, so i cannot make myself complete the transaction, but i adore these tables. thank you lovelies for sharing my lamp with your loyal readers. your support means the world to me! wishing you both a safe & happy 4th of July with your families!!! you have certainly kicked mine off just right! oxo Nic
Love Feist…not usually a huge fan of covers, but James Blake does a really nice job with a bit of a twist:) Your lamp looks especially lovely here. Jef….so hoping he takes the girl…to the alter:) xo
