“Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary” ~John Keating
We both have sons. They are different than daughters. We both have daughters. They move differently. They make sounds from their mouths that can be shocking or make you turn to see if an airplane is landing in your living room or a car is parking in your kitchen. A Harley Davidson has nothing on the sounds that come out of a boy’s mouth. They squirm and fidget. Did we mention they fidget? They give THE BEST hugs and they melt our heart’s. Almost best of all, they make us laugh. They are a force to be reckoned with….so buckle your seat belts…it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
A little peacefulness before the storm…
Try a little Tom-Boy on for size.
This was just to be a simple photo op before dinner…..
……”Did I say I’m just a boy”? ~Ethan
With boys, there’s lots of moving around.
The writing’s on the wall, with boys….
What are little boys made of? Slugs and snails and puppy-dog tails’. That’s what little boys are made of. ~ a nursery rhyme.
“Mom, if you were a super-hero, do you know who you would be?
Pajama Girl.” ~Wolfie
Boys being boys…
The army knife, so coveted by boys….with a little bit of female engineering…called Style, makes ‘pretty’….really pretty…of something so tough.
In all that need for utilitarian things, such as pocket knives….we find we can conquer certain mundane tasks…with style…such as; pluck eyebrows and open envelopes…and file a nail….while they whittle a stick, carve initials into trees and cut a fishing line.
“Mom, why do you like this chair? It looks like a giant green baseball mitt. It belongs in my room.” ~Ethan
“It resembles an unfurling flower and certainly belongs in my room.” ~Mom
We learned from our boys how to rock a pair of jeans…even yellow ones.
Boys love furry friends.
Big boys do, too.
Boys will find this cashmere creation, ‘sick’… as in cool…and use it to play catch with the dog. Of course.
Signs go up in stores where boys frequent…
“Did I say I’m just a boy?”
There is a heart of ours that’s wrapped around a finger of theirs….is it any wonder? ❤
